I didn’t set out to start an “LGBT marketing agency.” I started Marketing by Rocio in 2020 because, like a lot of recent grads, I needed work. But unlike a lot of recent grads, I had spent years steeped in queer studies, media criticism, and community building. My lens on the world, and business, was already deeply informed by my identity and values. Plain and simple.
Then COVID hit. Everyone went online. And what I saw during that time was kind of incredible: queer folks showing up as entrepreneurs, mutual aid organizers, therapists, artists, journalists, offering services that weren’t just marketable, but deeply needed.
There wasn’t enough support for them. And the agencies that did claim to serve “diverse businesses” often didn’t understand the nuances of queer culture, safety, or trust-building. So I started creating the kind of marketing support I wish existed. I did it for myself, and for people like me.
Even now, five years in, this work still feels radical. For marginalized business owners, visibility is a kind of safety. It’s also a kind of resistance.
And as someone who follows politics and culture closely, I’ve seen again and again how easily queer folks are erased, undermined, or targeted, whether it’s trans bans, drag show bills, or corporations backtracking on LGBTQ+ representation.
We’re expected to be profitable, but not political. Palatable, but not powerful.
That’s why my agency exists. I help get traffic and build funnels, yes, but I also help queer-led and affirming businesses build visibility on their own terms with integrity, clarity, and absolutely no apology.
What it looks like when queer marketing is done right
If you’ve landed on this page by searching “LGBT marketing agency,” chances are you’re not just looking for rainbow logos and inclusive stock photos. You want strategy that actually understands queer context, culture, and community trust…
And maybe you’re tired of being talked down to by agencies who simply don’t get it.
Let me show you what it looks like when we do get it.
Queer Social Club is a Portland-based mutual aid and events platform serving LGBTQ+ folks through in-person programming and a well-loved digital calendar. By Summer 2024, founder Sarah Crisp had been running it solo for two years and felt ready to scale, but unsure how to do it without losing the soul of the project.
Queer Social Club (Portland)
Sarah came to me feeling overwhelmed and protective of her community platform, Queer Social Club, based in Portland, Oregon. She didn’t want to sell out or scale fast. She just wanted clarity, consistency, and a brand voice that reflected the joy, messiness, and mutual aid her audience loved.
Through a 2-day intensive, we co-built a brand guide and marketing roadmap that didn’t just “feel aligned,” but worked: the site got press, volunteers finally had a guide to work with, and monetization no longer felt like selling out. It felt like self-sustenance.
What did Sarah say after working with me?
“I decided to hire support from a marketing professional who understood both queer culture AND digital marketing strategy. Rocio was the perfect person for this! Working together has equipped me with a whole new level of tools, focus, and priorities for the next year of business and community-building.”
– Sarah Crisp, Queer Social Club
TransTech Social Enterprises partnered with me to lead a LinkedIn coaching series for LGBTQ+ professionals, focusing on personal branding, profile optimization, and inclusive job search strategies.

Visibility on LinkedIn can be terrifying when you’re trans, nonbinary, or visibly queer, especially in industries that still haven’t caught up.
Through a series of workshops and 1:1 coaching, I helped over 100 members of the TransTech G.R.O.W. program build online presence with confidence, clarity, and community-informed safety. My work truly dug deep on what it means to show up professionally while being fully yourself.
Here’s a quote from one of the program participants:
“Rocio was an excellent presenter for the TransTech Social G.R.O.W. program, sharing their expertise with the LGBT community on personal branding on LinkedIn. I also had a 1-on-1 LinkedIn consultation with Rocio and they were knowledgeable, encouraging, and helpful, especially in areas where I felt stuck and unsure of what direction to go in.”

In early 2025, small business lawyer Dan Pepitone approached me to conduct a professional SEO audit. Based in NYC, his boutique legal practice provides guidance for therapists and private practices, and his online presence was strong, but could be improved.
Pepitone Law
Pepitone Law found me by Googling “LGBT marketing agency.” He didn’t come in asking for branding or messaging. He came in asking for SEO. That told me everything.
Queer-led businesses know what they need; they just want to work with someone who speaks their language and won’t make them explain themselves first. We’re building long-term visibility that’s already showing results, and we haven’t even touched paid ads yet.
From queer mutual aid organizers to affirming therapists and solo legal practices, I offer the frameworks, trust, and strategies that help LGBTQ+ businesses become visible and viable in a world that’s often working against them.
Rocio’s SEO audit and implementation work gave my website a real boost—clean, targeted improvements that didn’t compromise my tone or values as a New York City-based lawyer. I’ve already seen measurable increases in visibility and traffic, and now feel equipped to build sustainably. Can’t recommend their SEO services enough!

Doing business differently: values of an LGBT digital marketing agency
Look. I’m not here to sell you some “ethical marketing” label with no substance.
When I say I do business differently, I mean: I left the hyper-capitalist 9–5 burnout model for a reason. I’ve worked with startups that treated every campaign like an ER room.
I’ve seen what happens when queer values get swallowed up by scale-at-all-costs thinking.
And I’ve had to re-learn, the hard way, that just because someone’s queer doesn’t mean they’re aligned with your values.
My version of anti-capitalist marketing doesn’t mean that I’m opting out of the system entirely. I create new ways of working inside them. I do this with radical compassion, deep care, and clear boundaries. I’ve built my business to center care and clarity over grind and urgency. That means…
No gaslighting clients into “investing” before they’re ready.
No upsells disguised as empowerment.
No glossing over power dynamics or pretending “marketing is neutral.”
I’ve even lost queer business partners before, not because I wasn’t good at what I do, but because they had unspoken expectations I was never told about. Communication, boundaries, and shared intent all transcend queerness, and they remind us of our shared humanity!
So when I say I run an LGBT marketing agency, what I mean is: I work at the intersection of queerness, business, and digital trust. I help you show up clearly and consistently without betraying your values.
I’m not here to exploit identity. I’m here to protect it, reflect it, and help it thrive online. When you work with me, that will be at the foundation of everything.
What are you really searching for?
Here’s the thing: people might Google “LGBT marketing agency” because they don’t know what else to search. But what they’re actually looking for? It’s trust. It’s alignment. It’s someone who gets what it means to build a business while holding onto your values.
When they land on my site, they realize they’re finding a partner who speaks their language, doesn’t flinch at “radical” ideas, and isn’t afraid to say late-stage capitalism is a scam while still understanding their launch funnel. And, of course, they’re looking for a true trustedresource.
That’s the gap I fill. You’re allowed to be mission-driven and want to grow. You’re allowed to be queer and strategic. You’re allowed to want marketing support that feels less like manipulation and more like mutual aid.
What I really deliver is care, clarity, and unapologetically queer strategy. The kind that meets people where they are and moves them toward what they actually want.
Frequently asked questions about working with an LGBT marketing agency
What does an LGBT marketing agency do?
An LGBT marketing agency helps businesses connect with LGBTQ+ audiences through inclusive branding, community-informed strategy, and digital marketing that resonates. That might include SEO, content creation, social media, and more, all through a queer lens.
How do I know if a marketing agency is really LGBTQ+ inclusive?
Check if the agency is queer-led, has a track record of serving LGBTQ+ clients, and understands the nuances of queer culture, safety, and visibility. Their portfolio and language should reflect that.
Why choose an LGBTQ-owned marketing agency over a traditional one?
Queer-owned agencies offer lived experience, cultural fluency, and a more nuanced understanding of what authentic representation looks like. They’re better equipped to avoid tokenism and create campaigns rooted in community.
Can an LGBT marketing agency help with SEO?
Absolutely. A queer-led agency like Marketing by Rocio understands how LGBTQ+ folks search for services, what terms resonate, and how to build trust online through inclusive content, metadata, and structure. And you’ve come to the right blog post, because SEO for queer businesses is kind of our thing.
Is it important for LGBTQ+ businesses to work with LGBTQ+ marketers?
It’s not a requirement, but it often leads to better alignment. Shared values and cultural fluency mean less explaining, more trust, and marketing that actually feels like a partnership.
Work with a queer digital marketing agency that actually gets it
If you’re queer, you already know: we don’t get to separate our identities from politics. We don’t get to ignore the news. And our businesses—our visibility—exist in that same world.
From Dylan Mulvaney’s Bud Light backlash to state-level anti-DEI rollbacks, we’re constantly reminded that queer visibility still makes people uncomfortable. Sometimes violently so.
So what does that mean for an LGBT marketing agency like mine?
It means I understand that branding for queer-owned businesses means being seen on your own terms.
It’s why I track news cycles and keyword trends, to prepare my clients for the cultural moments that impact our visibility.
It’s why I believe SEO is political, because if you’re not showing up when someone Googles “queer therapist near me” or “LGBT small business,” who will?
The backlash is here. But so is our resilience. And so is the need for digital strategy that doesn’t dilute identity for the sake of being palatable.
I’ll help you get found and stay true. Because in this climate, your voice deserves to be heard, and your audience deserves to find you.
